Wedding Scrapbooking

A wedding is one of the most special days in a persons life and should be memorialized so it can be enjoyed again as the years go by. One of the best ways to do this is with wedding scrapbooks. You can approach this in a number of ways. You can make just one scrapbook for the entire event. However this is what the wedding album is for. Instead consider making a number of wedding scrapbooks.

You will need to do a little planning before hand to make this work. You want to be collecting items from the entire planning phase of the wedding. Also collect items from the bachelorette and bachelor parties, rehearsal dinners and your honeymoon.

You can make a wedding scrapbook for the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. You want to save place cards, invitations and use pictures of the rehearsals in this scrapbook. If there are any flowers being used then dry some of them and also use them. At the rehearsal dinner have your guests write down the special things that they remember about you and your future spouse. You will be able to use these through out the scrapbooks. These will be part of the journaling. Remember that scrapbooks are telling a story. You just don't want a bunch of pictures thrown together without putting them into context.

Make another wedding scrapbook for the wedding itself. This scrapbook would contain pictures of the guest arriving, pictures with the family and friends and pictures of the wedding and the bride and groom leaving the wedding. See if your photographer will let you use some of the pictures he is taking. If not, have a friend taking pictures for you.

The final wedding scrapbook will be of the wedding party. Save place cards, invitations, RSVP cards etc (see list below). Again have a professional photographer or friend take a lot of pictures that you could use. One fun thing to do is buy disposable cameras and give them out to your guests and collect them at the end of the evening. This will provide a large amount of great photographs for you to use.

You want to save a copy of the following:

  • Wedding service
  • Place cards
  • An invitation
  • An R.S.V.P. card
  • A thank you note
  • A copy of the guest list
  • Photos of the planning done for the wedding
  • Bridal registry
  • List of gifts received
  • Wedding favors that were used
  • Information on planning mishaps
  • Wrapping papers (use these to add color to your scrapbook pages)
  • Photos of the party

Once you are back from your honeymoon and relaxed you will want to do a little planning of what will go into each wedding scrapbook. Take your time at this step since there is no rush. Scrapbooking is supposed to be fun so don't pressure yourself. You will find yourself enjoying these wedding scrapbooks throughout the rest of your life.
