Baby's First Scrapbook
The time when your kids are young goes by so fast. Young parents don't seem to appreciate this and before they know it their child is no longer a baby. You don't want these special times to slip away into memory. Here's how to preserve them by making your baby's first scrapbook.
If possible you want to do a little planning beforehand. Take a lot of pictures during the pregnancy. Keep the sonograms, baby announcements, shower announcements and cards from family and friends. During the delivery take pictures of everyone in the waiting room. You can also have the family and friends waiting write down their thoughts of this special time so you can use them later for journaling. After the birth make sure to get pictures of baby meeting mom, dad, grandparents, siblings and the rest of the family. You should also pay attention to getting the first bath and first feeding.
Items to get for your baby's first scrapbook:
- Pictures of mom and dad during the pregnancy
- Sonograms
- Baby Announcements
- Shower Announcements
- Cards from friends and family
- Pictures of family and friends in the waiting roo
- The thoughts of the family and friends of the special occasion
- Hospital bracelets
- Pictures of first feeding, bath and arrival home
- Lock of your baby's hair
- Your baby's footprints
The theme of the scrapbook will be the arrival of your baby. For the layout I recommend purchasing a quality scrapbook since this is such a special occasion. If you want to save money then you can download free words, titles and embellishments online. However you can purchase a scrapbook that will have everything you'll need.
Keep the scrapbook simple. You can go the traditional pink for girl, blue for boy or something in the middle. If you are artistically challenged then get a scrapbook that has the pages already setup and you just need to fill them in. If however you are feeling more adventurous then you can get a scrapbook with blank pages and fill them out yourself.
Have the first couple of pages devoted to the pregnancy and another page or two leading up to the delivery of the baby. The rest of your baby's first scrapbook will be about the delivery and first moments of life. Enjoy making this scrapbook and don't stress yourself out over it. Take your time with it and make sure to do journaling so in later years the scrapbook will hold that much more feeling in it.
Happy scrapbooking!
